Let’s Set a Budget & Guest List – These are listed as one to-do because they work hand-in-hand. The biggest contributor to your budget (and whether or not it’s realistic for your vision) is your guest count. When you talk with family about who may be contributing to the wedding, keep in mind there might be an expectation that if they give money they should also be able to give you a guest list.
More guests cost more money. Not just in food and beverage, but in stationery, floral, tabletop rentals, transportation, and more.
My best advice for couples regarding setting a budget and guest list and dealing with a guest list hijacker is this: share with them the per-person cost of adding the additional people to the day.
At this point, you do not know your cost for catering, music, decorations, attire, photography, accommodations, florist, etc. So, although you have an idea of how many guests you would like to have attending your Wedding, it is best to only send Save the Dates to the close family and friends and not to everyone on your list. So, that may be 20-30 Save the Dates instead of the 150 guests on your list. That means send Save the Dates to immediate family. Immediate family means your grandmother, grandfather, and your best friend. Then, wait until you have secured your major vendors before you send any more Save The Dates. We sincerely hope this helps you with you Setting a Budget & your Guest List!
